Vitamins And MineralsThe Life Balances Program was designed to use your own individual senses of smell and taste much like a specific ion probe is used in the laboratory. If a substance smells or tastes good or has no smell, your individual body needs it. If it smells or tastes bad, your individual body does not need it. The ideal is to have all your numbers 4's or 5's. If you have all 3's your system is in balance, but you have no reserves. If you have 4's or 5's you system is in balance, and you have energy to spare. A 5 on the smell score is a smell that is 'So So', it doesn't really smell bad or good, but you can definitely smell it. The water in your system is the transport medium for materials, both good and bad, through your body. Proper circulation is vital to every cell; it transports nutrients throughout your body, while picking up toxins and waste materials 'garbage'. Everyday, due to normal use, your muscles and tissues degenerate. Without proper circulation, the waste materials and dead cells cannot be carried off to be filtered out of your system. The fluids are necessary to clean out the system. After a meal, your circulatory system picks up the nutrients from your food and circulates them through your body. Oxygen from your lungs is circulated through your body in the same manner. Without proper circulation, your body doesn't receive the proper nutrients and at the same time has no way to rid itself of the toxins and waste material left in the tissues. This garbage causes compost-like material to build up, especially at the site of an injury. As long as this material stays in your tissues, healing cannot begin. Your body must have proper circulation in order to deliver the necessary nutrients and remove the unhealthy materials. This garbage (waste material), if left in the system, causes tumors, infections, arthritis, and other diseases. If the concentration of nutrients is low, this flushing action further dilutes the concentration in the cells by replacing the waste material with water. While it is cleaning out the garbage it is replacing the contents of the cell with a diluted concentration of nutrients. In order to repair the tissues, there must be an adequate concentration of nutrients going into the cell. The greater the concentration, the greater the rate of the reaction. To demonstrate this chemical law, think of the reaction that takes place when baking soda and vinegar are mixed in water. Baking soda and water alone produce no reaction. When you add vinegar to the combination, the solution bubbles and froths. If you put a small amount of each (1/2 tsp.) in 16 ounces of water, you would get a small reaction. However, if you put a pound of baking soda and a gallon of vinegar in a gallon of water, the reaction would be more intense and would happen much faster. The more vinegar and baking soda you add, the faster and greater the reaction. The same law applies to your body. When the nutrients replace the garbage in the cell, the garbage goes into the blood stream, the greater the amount of garbage, the faster and more intense the reaction will be. When this garbage is circulated through your body, it effects the nervous system and heart. Your body sends out signals making you feel sick; often it will cause a bad taste in your mouth. In turn, your body says, don't drink water, it tastes bad and makes you feel sick. You are being punished for doing the right thing. The only way to get over the sick feeling and bad taste, is to continue to drink water and replace the nutrients by going through the Program and following the rules. As your body rids itself of the garbage, you will start to feel better. Water is capable of dissolving more solids, gases, and liquids than any other known substance. Chemical reactions proceed more quickly and easily when the substances are in a finely divided state as possible. Therefore, water, acting as a medium, makes it easier for the chemical reactions to take place. All matter has three forms, liquid, gas, and solid. When a substance is added to water it dissolves, when more is added, the substance dissolves until it reaches saturation point. When saturation point is reached, the substance will no longer dissolve and remains a solid. To demonstrate this, dissolve Vitamin C crystals in water. If you put a small amount in a cup of water, you can taste the Vitamin C. If you add more Vitamin C, it will taste stronger. As you add Vitamin C crystals, the taste will not get any stronger. At the point when the Vitamin C crystals will no longer dissolve, it has reached saturation point. A reaction will increase until saturation, but not after. However, the reaction will stay high until the solution is diluted by adding more water, and the crystals again dissolve. When all the crystals dissolve, the reaction will be less. When your fluid level is down and the veins in your arms, legs, and head are constricted, you tire easily due to the lack of nutrients and oxygen in your system. Your hands and feet will be cold and you will get more headaches. These are just minor symptoms of lack of circulation, and the beginning of diseases that are the direct result of poor circulation. If your fluid level is up, your skin will feel warm and moist to the touch and will have elasticity, which is known as turgor. If you drink large amounts of water and eat foods lacking in concentration, the concentration in your body is diluted. Water is the transport mechanism that carries the good materials through your body and pumps out the garbage. Good nutrients must be put into your body in order for it to repair and grow new cells. The law of definite proportions states: an object is that object (an apple for example) because of the proportions of the elements it contains. An example of the above law of definite proportions is the difference between a brownie recipe and a chocolate cake recipe. They both contain the same ingredients, however the proportions are different, therefore Ð depending on which recipe you follow, you can bake either a cake or brownies, using the same ingredients. The cell must contain the proper elements in the proper ratio in order to produce the specific cells that make up the brain, heart, muscle, and all other tissues. The statement, "You are what you eat" Is very true. If you eat a diet that is too high in one vitamin or mineral, your system will not be properly balanced. You need the proper proportion of elements to have a healthy body. Eating the foods that sound good, or you crave, will balance out your nutritional intake (you will be eating 'balanced meals') and will make you a healthier individual. An example of this is when you crave potato chips or other salty foods. Your body may be telling you it needs salt. As you eat the potato chips you will note that the taste changes and they start to taste more salty. You won't want to eat any more. This means you are building up your concentration of salts. If you pay attention to what your body is telling you, any food you eat will 'tell' you when you have had enough. When you eat what your body needs and in the right amount, you leave the table feeling content and comfortable. If you eat what is put on your plate and clean it up, you may end up eating too much or not enough of the food you really need. When this happens you leave the table feeling uncomfortable and often have an upset stomach. When you eat the foods your body tells you it needs, you will always look the same, your weight won't go up or down. It is only when you eat what is handy or decide on a cheaper (less dense, nutritionally) diet, that your body changes. Another event that changes your diet is moving to a different area of the country. The nutrient content in the soil of different areas varies according to the locality. Therefore the nutritional content of the food grown there is different. The composition of the minerals and nutrients in the food effects the fluid level in your body. A proportions of these nutrients are added, they fill the needs in your body which enable it to grow healthy cells. Water plays an important role in transporting these nutrients and removing the waste materials. This process of nourishing cells and cleaning out the waste products continues throughout the day and at night while you are asleep. At first your body will take time balancing out, but as you progress on the program, your body will learn to repair and nourish itself faster by having the required fluids made available by your craving fluids.
